Happy Thanksgiving.....

Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. We have SO much to be grateful for...I will list a few....

Since last November......

We gained THREE daughters! Wow, welcome to Blessing Annaliese, Lindsey Cassandra, and Anastasia Elaine! Two of them were babies, and then the older one is now 13. Just a joy!

We found out we were moving to Alaska!

We have had incredible good health!

We got a new (to us) van!

I was diagnosed with two genes that precede Celiac Disease making me severely Gluten sensitive. I am SO thankful for this!

SO thankful for my husband of 7.5 years.

Very thankful for all 11 of my precious children.

Long Day.......

Today was a long day.....took Lindsey to the Podiatrist. She was diagnosed with Pediatric Flat Feet and her tendons are too tight. Doc ordered custom orthotics for her shoes, so we are hoping for a big improvement. He said she went a long time with sore feet. Since most of you don't know us personally, she is our newest daughter. She came to us May 1st. She turned 13 in July. She also needed glasses recently and had not had an eye exam in many years. The doc wasn't happy! She needs glasses for being both near and far sighted. It's really helped her a lot. Her headaches are gone, her schoolwork has improved (she is delayed about 4 yrs and I really feel this has contributed!) Our little girl, Blessing will get her custom shoes in the next week or so.

Today we learned that Rob's security clearance has gone to the next phase. It's completed on his end, so now they "schedule it" (not sure what they meant by that email). He is excited as this puts us one step closer to the big move!

I was super sick over the weeked. It was many hours of intense vomiting and diarrhea. I really felt great, except for the above mentioned. I was very sore for 2 days after in my rib cage.

I am nearly done with Christmas shopping and the things I have are wrapped. Having a family of 12, you might think that would be a huge task, but it's not! We do 3 gifts each, then a few family gifts for the children (games, movies) I am so relieved of all the pressure I used to place on myself.

Work is going fine. I am not happy being away from the children when I work, and they have me scheduled next week for 5-6 days in a row. That wasn't part of the agreement! I will do it because Rob is off a lot of those days and we won't need our back up here, but I surely don't like the idea. I do want to contribute to the attorney fee, but if it continues to make me feel like I am taking away from my family, I will come home!

So what are you thankful for today?

Started a new job....

I am a working Mama now. I took a job at the local Wal-Mart Pharmacy to make extra money to pay for our youngest daughter's adoption attorney. Tonight was my first night back there and they tossed me to the wolves! I seriously have not operated a cash register in MANY years and they just throw you on like you are supposed to know what to do. I was taking patient info, pulling prescriptions, checking inventory, you name it. Wow, I am not even finished with training. I guess they believe in me more than I do myself????

I don't mind working, but I do mind leaving my children at home. Rob is home with them a lot of the time, but our friend who lives here will also be caring for them. I don't really like giving up control. I am a Mama Bear at heart. I know he will do well with them, but it's just the whole idea of working and leaving them that isn't settling....but this too shall pass! I realize it's only temporary!

Rob is supposed to hear something back in the next couple of weeks about the job, so we will know hen he is to arrive. The last we heard is they want him to start on the 6th or the 20th of December. It doesn't give us much time to buy a ticket, pack his things, and send him on his way. But with the government, things go this way at times. He was really hoping to wait until after the holidays to leave, but he will do whatever is asked of him.

Today was our baby girls 1st birthday! She is so dear. We just love her to bits. Miss Blessing had a good day. Her little party is on Saturday. We invited friends and family. So far a few have replied they are coming. We have a party at Rob's job in the afternoon, so we will get underway here about noontime. We are having a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for all who come, along with cake and ice cream. My Mama ordered her cake, and since 7 of us are gluten-free now, I will come up with something for us.

I guess I will close for now. My bed is calling my name. God bless you all.

One Step Closer

Rob spoke with the Security Office today and they finally  have his documentations. Now we wait. The Army usually isn't very quick when it comes to paperwork and deadlines, but we are hopeful. At this point,  they have to verify everything he put on his security clearance is true and accurate. When all is said and done, they make their final offer and we either accept or decline. The plan is to accept of course :)

The children are all very excited about the thought of moving North. The family (Mom/Pop) are not so thrilled. Actually Mom is giving me some guilt trips to go on. I try not to go there, but it's hard when she lives 20 minutes away. I mean I would love to stay close forever, but the truth is, Rob really wants to be back in government service and I really want to live back in Alaska, so it's the best of both worlds.

I lived in AK back in 1984 when my oldest child was 13 months old. Wow, that was a looong time ago! We lived in Fairbanks. I was 17 when I moved there with my daughter's father. He was stationed at Wainwright. Fast forward many years and she will be 28 in February, and I have surely grown from the once very scared teenager moving to AK! I didn't want to go, but loved it while I was there. I only got to stay one year. They say it makes you or breaks you, and well he broke. He actually suffered a mental breakdown and the Army released him. I took advantage of them moving my household goods back and the plane ticket and went home. However, I did go back and try to make it on my own, but it wasn't meant to be at that time. Home I went again.

With that being said, I am looking forward to experiencing this with a wonderful man, and 8 of our 10 children. We adopted them mostly from foster care, but 3 were private infant adoptions.

Well, that's a bit more about us. Tell me more about you.

Until Then,

Jennifer

My First Post..

Hi fellow blog followers. I am hoping to establish this blog to give you a more intimate peek into our everyday lives as homeschooling, Jesus-loving, people who are on a journey. Right now, the journey is heading to a far-away place called ALASKA! Rob has been offered an amazing position in a remote location called Delta Junction. He would be working at Fort Greely for the US Army as a Public Safety Dispatcher. It's been a long journey to this point. More to follow....
